Creating a portrait offers many expressive possibilities. In this class, students will focus on manipulating a condensed range of values to establish mood and tone. Through observation and analysis, students will explore how drama, intrigue, or serenity emerge when value relationships are thoughtfully controlled. The course emphasizes breaking down value structure, understanding how light describes form, and clearly separating light and shadow to create the illusion of three-dimensional depth.
